Spring Crust

We recently had a nasty ice/sleet storm which created a very rugged crust over the 3 feet of snow on the ground. This has made for some easy getting around for the local deer population, and these youngsters were out and about yesterday afternoon munching on the tender honeysuckle shoots in the front yard :)

One had had it's fill of having it's picture taken and decided to head back to the woods

We have seen these two around since they were tiny little spotted fawns, running around the homestead. Nice to know they survived the winter and are healthy!

Snowmen, Bitter Cold, and Snowshoeing

We waited and waited. But the snow never came. November...the ground was bare. December...the ground was bare.

We had one small storm towards the end of December, but the snow didn't last. Emi & Jack managed to scrape up enough snow to make some small snowmen though :)

Jack's seems to be wondering about the lack of snow (and in need of some 'Orbitz')

Finally in January the snow started coming...finally!

But so did the cold! I think the wind chill factor was in the -60's, -70's BRRRR

Now that we have snow, we have been getting out and doing some snowshoeing (when it's not 20 below zero)

Jack and I were able to find a stump to set the camera on so we could set the timer and get a picture of us together :)

Tough going in places but he did a great job leading the way back :)

Winter in Maine, it's what you make it ;-)

Jen & Brian: Shelburne, Vermont Wedding

Back in early October I had the pleasure of returning to Vermont for Jen and Brian's beautiful wedding at All Souls Interfaith Gathering along Lake Champlain. The weather cooperated and it was a beautiful Autumn weekend as family and friends gathered from across the country for the joyous event.

And Bouquet

Jen and Brian planned their day out very well and made plenty of time for a 'First Look' as well as time to shoot group pictures with their Wedding Party before the ceremony.

Jen on her way to meet Brian for their First Look as he anxiously awaits her

Brian was literally speechless for the first couple minutes of seeing his beautiful Bride. It was such a wonderful moment between them. First Looks are priceless! :)

After their First Look, we piled the Wedding Party into a few vehicles and went down the road a ways to take some fun pictures amidst the Fall colors

Then it was time to get back for the Ceremony. Jen being escorted down the aisle by Mom and Dad

Mr. & Mrs.!

Again, because of a well planned day we had plenty of time to get away for some 'Alone Time' portraits! :)

Strolling through the meadow on their way to where we wanted to shoot ;)

The colors and the location were just sooo nice!

One of my favorites

I have to include one of just the beautiful Bride :)

Then it was time to return to their family and friends for a night of celebration.

Jen and Brian are very adventurous and spend a lot of their free time traveling the globe. Their love of hiking mountains was displayed on each table with signs of peaks conquered :)

How special is it to have your father play piano for your First Dance?? :)

I'll end with this great moment as Jen and her Dad danced

A big thank you to Jen and Brian for allowing me the pleasure of being a part of your
wedding! Your E-Session in Boothbay this summer was so much fun, (one of the most fun sessions I have had), and your wedding weekend in Vermont was wonderful! You two were made for each other and I wish you lifelong joy and happiness.

Soccer Season Winding Down

We're down to one game...The Championship Game!!

This is Em playing tough defense in last week's regular season finale. She is one of only a few 5th graders on the school team this year and they are holding their own pretty well with the older girls!

They found themselves down 0-4 at the half vs. Stratton and it wasn't looking good. But the girls reached deep and fought hard, coming back with 4 unanswered second-half goals to tie it up, where it finished 4-4 after overtime. Last night the #3 Strong girls had to travel to #2 Stratton for the first round of the playoffs and battled to a 0-0 tie after regulation AND overtime, eventually winning by Penalty Kicks 3-2!! The win pushed them straight to the Championship, Saturday night under the lights at MT. Abram High School. :)
